TIP (Important):   When you practice sailing, practice with another teammate - not by yourself. That is the only way you can know if you are improving. If you practice by yourself you will have nothing with which to measure your progress and really get bored.  Actually, go with two or three of you teammates.

TIP:  Learn to tune your boat.  Setting up the sails (tuning) is extremely important - about as important as knowing how to sail.  This is where being around experienced skippers is so valuable.  Caution: everyone has their way of tuning their boat and are more than happy to share there method with you.  Listen to their advice but keep an open mind. Learn from the skippers who win on a regular basis. One day, you will be that experienced skipper helping a newer teammate (and you will feel good about yourself).
